Pop-Up Contemporary Opera Amidst Giants of Contemporary American Art

Immerse yourself in intimate pop-up performances from Dark Sisters before Opera Fayetteville’s full production later this month. Join us beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 23, inside the contemporary wing of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Written by Nico Muhly and Stephen Karam, the work explores women's lives in a polygamist cult of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. With a narrative that draws from media accounts of two famous raids on FLDS sects, the opera charts one woman’s quest for self-discovery in a world where personal identity is forbidden. Stick around for a Q&A with the performers and learn more about the upcoming performance of the fully staged Dark Sisters at Walton Arts Center March 29 and 30.
