Time for toasty drinks & participatory live music to celebrate the season

We're getting all merry & bright for a season of cozy. Join us up on historic Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville for an evening of song & cheer, with music from singer-songwriter Kalyn Fay joined in harmony with founding director Katy Henriksen & Candice Houston, plus cello from Matt Magerkurth and piano from Amos Cochran. We’ve also got a participatory holiday sing-along with lyrics provided!

We'll have a donations bar that includes Glühwein (that's German for mulled wine), local beer, as well as hot apple cider! Plus snacks on hand! This is our first event at our partner organization Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville, (where Trillium also has its very own studio now).  We can't wait to share these historic auspices with you.

If you'd like to attend, please send us an email so we can keep track of RSVPs & give you details on how to get there. As with all of our salons, we ask for a suggested donation in the amount of $10 or whatever you can afford.

Announcing our first ever art block party

We’re thrilled to announce our first ever art block party in collaboration with the Tiny Amp House, Spring Shop Studios and musicians in the Artosphere Festival Orchestra!

Come out to E. 7th Street from Washington to Willow in South Fayetteville to celebrate the summer solstice Trillium Salon style Friday, June 21, from 6-10 p.m.

We’ll have live music from members of Artosphere Festival Orchestra— featuring the musicians who helped us kick of the very first Trillium in Katy’s living room back in 2016, plus bowed guitar from Craig Colorusso and special guests, to be announced.

In addition to live music and open studios from the Spring Shop artists, Gustav Carlson will draw your portrait & you can set up your own photo booth inside an Airstream.

Second Hand Smoke will serve up delectable BBQ and fresh Indian cuisine from Indian Dhaba. We’ll have an area especially set up for kiddo activities too and many more collaborators to announce.

We hope you’ll join us for this one-of-a-kind art block party that connects us all through music and art!

Float Through the Sonic Dreamscapes of Composer + Pianist Amos Cochran

We’re thrilled to present a night with Emmy nominated composer/pianist Amos Cochran Saturday, Feb. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the historic Guisinger building on the Fayetteville downtown square, now serving as Roots Headquarters.

Amos will perform original compositions on piano, electronics and with the help of violinist Miranda Baker Burns. This all ages show will have a donation bar for wine and beer. Tickets are a suggested donation of $10. Because seating is limited, please reserve yourself a spot by emailing trilliumsalonseries@gmail.com.

His Trillium concert serves as a homecoming of sorts and marks his debut performance as a composer pianist in his hometown. Amos grew up in Fayetteville and played bass in many bands before moving south to Van Buren, when he retreated into crafting delicately honed bedroom sounds with a keyboard and electronic components. The music proved well-suited for film scores such as Dayveon, which had its premiere at the 2017 Sundance film festival and went on to screen at both the Berlin and Toronto International Film Festivals. In 2018 Cochran released his first solo albums, Unscored and Helium Angel.  Last fall he premiered the large scale work “A Modern Procedure for Breathing” at The Unexpected in Downtown Fort Smith. Learn more and hear music from Amos Cochran at his website.

Improvisational Acoustic Guitar & Upright Bass

Join us for an evening of improvisational guitar from Tashi Dorji & a blend of folk with classical from upright bassist Haley Bowman, Sunday, September 2, at Matt Miller Studio in downtown Fayetteville. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. with the concert starting at 5 p.m.

Tashi Dorji will perform an improvised solo set on acoustic guitar for sounds that a review in music magazine The Wire describes as “perfectly formed explosions that are full of movement and prickly energy.” The Bhutan-born guitarist now calls Asheville, North Carolina, home base. With a focus on a style that he describes as “unbound by tradition,” Dorji invites intuitive connection and a labyrinth of textures.

His debut recording was released in 2014 on Hermit Hut, a label founded by Ben Chasny of Six Organs of Admittance, a musical project that began when Chasny wanted to merge the styles of finger-picked acoustic guitar to improvisational drone elements. Listen to Dorji’s extensive solo and collaborative experimental recordings at his Bandcamp page.

Haley Bowman, now in her fifth year at the University of Arkansas as a music business major, will open the evening, performing a  solo upright bass set that blends folk and classical styles.
