1,000 Cranes For Peace: A Pop-Up Event at Likewise Community

We’ve had quite the winter weather situation, so we’ve moved the 1,000 cranes for peace pop-up event to Sunday, Feb. 28, from 3-6 p.m. In addition to a donations bar, we’ll have live music from cellist Matt Magerkurth performing with singer-songwriter Kalyn Fay plus a set from contemporary music group Thought Form Collective. Did we mention door prizes from our sponsors Little Mountain Bindery and Shindig Paperie, who donated origami paper for our community-led art installation? This all takes place in the historic garage of Likewise Community in downtown Fayetteville. The event is free and open to the public, with donations accepted. We just ask that you RSVP via this link! As a reminder, we’re following CDC pandemic guidelines, so masks are required for this socially distanced outdoor event! We can’t wait to unveil the 1,000 cranes installation - which feature cranes from not just throughout Arkansas, but also Massachusetts, Texas, Kentucky and New York.

What’s that you say? You’d like to help with installation of 1,000 paper cranes this week? YES PLEASE. We’ll be seeking help all week long, so just shoot us a note right here so we can coordinate with you!

Residency Redux - 'An Exploration of Breathing' with Guitarist/Composer Thomas Echols

Residency Redux - 'An Exploration of Breathing' with Guitarist/Composer Thomas Echols

Composer/guitarist Thomas Echols will examine the idea of breath for his week-long Trillium residency at a cottage up at Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville for the week of July 13-19. While here, he’ll record breaths, so he can analyze their spectral content to create filters that will augment other sounds. He’ll build the multi-movement composition using his own recording system, an augmented classical guitar, and synthesizers, and compose using software he’s designed especially for this project.
