Blue Thread's Multicultural Tapestry

Join us at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, in the Early American Galleries of Crystal Bridges for a live musical performance with Blue Thread. Blue Thread traces connections between Portuguese, Sephardic, Celtic, and American ballads intertwined with Persian, Balkans, and other global traditions. The thread is blue, colored by the melancholy “blues” that haunt their tunes and by the sea that both inspires the lyrics of many of their songs and provides passageways between cultures. This is a FREE all-ages performance in our ongoing collaboration with the museum.

A Reedy Celebration of Black Arkansas Composers

Join us for an evening of clarinet quartets with C4 Ensemble at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, May 26. The performance will feature rarely heard works by African American composers from Arkansas. That includes Scott Joplin’s rags, Florence Price’s keyboard pieces and William Grant Still’s quartet. More than a stoic performer on a distant stage, this evening performance promises to bring the energy of audience, musician and place together in perfect harmony. We can’t wait to commune with you through music at this free event.

Pulsing Rhythmic Minimalism with Jon Mueller

We’re thrilled to be a stop on Jon Mueller's Afterlife Cartoons tour, which features solo acoustic percussion of repetitive tom patterns and subtle shifts in grid-like pulsing to instigate overtones, phasing, and choir-like acoustic phenomena that transform the work from mere drum solo to the sonic illusion of a small orchestra. Rhythmic minimalism, contemporary phrasing, and energetic sustain drive Mueller's improvisations into a space somewhere between modern electronic music and primal drumming, inspiring audiences toward movement and contemplation. We hope you’ll join us at 7 p.m., Monday, March 14, inside Millar Lodge on Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville. Suggested donation to this all-ages show is $15.

Are You Ready To Get "In C?"

Widely considered the first minimalist composition ever written, Terry Riley’s 1964 work “In C” consists of melodic fragments written for an undetermined ensemble - the instrumentation and amount of players is really up to whomever decides to produce the work. Accordion, electric guitar, violin, harp, trombone - all instruments are welcome. Join us at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, inside the contemporary gallery of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art for a performance of “In C” when Trillium Salon Series joins forces with NorthWest Arkansas Community College’s (NWACC) music department to perform the work as part of NWACC’s 2022 Spring Arts and Culture Festival. A seminal composition of minimalism performed live, alongside Mark Rothko and Andy Warhol paintings? This will be undeniably transportive.

P.S. - we’re seeking musicians to perform “In C.” If you’re interested in playing, please fill out this form to apply!

Transcend with harpist Mary Lattimore + ambient experimental Ana Roxanne

"Lattimore handles her harp like a solo guitarist, improvising around contemplative melodies with the help of pedals that warp her crystalline tone and seem to bend time." - The New York Times

She'll be performing along with ambient experimental artist Ana Roxanne whose debut LP "pulls from new age, dream pop, Medieval choral music, and Hindustani singing for a hypnotic and tender meditation on gender, identity, and self-love." -Pitchfork

Get Euphoric with Rockaway Beach's Sky Creature

Trillium first connected with Sky Creature’s Majel Connery when she performed virtually at last year’s New Year’s Day Salon, so it’s a pure thrill to have her here in IRL as her duo Sky Creature goes on national tour. Self-described as “a euphoric collision of post-punk, trance, and deconstructed opera,” the duo of Majel Connery (vocals, synths) and Matt Walsh (guitar) first bonded in a Brooklyn recording studio over My Bloody Valentine records. The resulting sound is a magical alchemy of opposites: weightless vocals set against a raging sea of manic guitars and driving beats. They’ll be stopping through Fayetteville on Tuesday, Oct. 12, for a Trillium Salon from 7-9 p.m. inside the garage of Likewise Community. Shoot us an email to reserve your seat (we’ll have 25 socially distanced spots) at $15 suggested donation, or standing room at $10. We’ll send you info about our Covid-19 guidelines and directions on where to park, in addition to reserving your spot. A donations drinks & snacks bar will be on hand as usual. Did we mention they’re about to record an EP with legendary producer Steve Albini?! We can’t wait to experience this sound euphoria with you!

Experimental Percussive Resonance with Tatsuya Nakatani

We’re thrilled to welcome back avant-garde percussionist, composer and sound artist Tatsuya Nakatani for an evening of resonant sounds. An extensive touring and recording artist with more than 80 recordings to date, Nakatani creates his distinctive music through his own invention of an adapted bowed gong, supported by an array of drums, cymbals and singing bowls. Join us at 7 p.m., Friday, September 24, inside the garage of Likewise Community in downtown Fayetteville for a masked and socially distanced night of connection through resonant sounds. Seating is limited to 25 with a $15 suggested donation, with standing room available for a $10 suggested donation. RSVP for your spot today by emailing us. We’ll send you info about our Covid-19 guidelines and directions on where to park, in addition to reserving your spot. We’ll have drinks & snacks on hand for donation concessions as well. We can’t wait to connect with you through live music!

You're invited to a cello party!

It's time to celebrate the release of Amends with cellist/composer Matt Magerkurth this Saturday, August 7, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Perrodin Supply Co. in Springdale. In addition to Matt playing the entire album, we'll have food and drinks on hand from Ozark Natural Foods and brand new artwork from Kalyn Fay Barnoski on display. Due to the rise of Covid-19, we're requiring RSVPs and masks to this free event. Click here to email us your RSVP to this limited attendance event.
